"Donner," called Dasher, "wait for me!" Donner, who was so eager he had gotten ahead of Dasher, turned to wait for Dasher to catch-up. "Maybe we should wait until it gets dark, when every one has gone home for the night.“ Said one to the other. “We would not be seen and it would be safer for us." Donner and Dasher thought about what the rabbit and the fox said.
"Yes, it will be much safer after dark." They waited until dark and then slowly and cautiously walked down into the village. All the stores were closed and locked-up for the night. Even the houses were dark. Dasher kept close to Donner.

“Kris realized that his little sleigh would not be able to carry all of the toys they had made in one trip.
He always wanted to build a special sleigh, a sleigh that could carry many more toys, a sleigh that sparkled and glistened a bigger sleigh, a shiny red sleigh.
Kris waited until everyone had gone to bed for the night to work on the special sleigh. Every night he worked and worked. Then one day it was finished he had built the most beautiful, shiny red sleigh ever. It was a grand sleigh. He tried to make it light so the reindeer would not have to work too hard pulling it.
